With a General Municipal Election scheduled to be held in the Town of Niverville on Wednesday, October 28th, 2026, the Town has created this webpage to provide an easy way for voters and prospective candidates to find important information they may need to know, such as how to ensure that you are on the voters list, what makes you eligible as a voter and/or a candidate, important links and documents, and more.
During the 2026 General Municipal Election, our community will elect a Mayor and four Councillors to a four-year term starting at noon on Thursday, October 29th, 2026. This new Council will then appoint one of their members to the position of Deputy Mayor at the first regular Council meeting of the new term.
As we build towards the 2026 general municipal election, the Town of Niverville will be implementing regular Election Office Hours to provide predictable hours that residents and prospective candidates can contact the Senior Election Official (SEO) for anything related to municipal elections, such as:
- Add names to or correct information on the Voters List;
- Request to have your name and address obscured from the Voters List;
- Apply for voting by sealed envelope;
- Pick up nomination packages and register as a prospective Head of Council candidate and Council candidate.
These hours, starting Wednesday, April 1st, 2026, are:
- Tuesdays: 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
- Wednesdays: 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
- Thursdays: 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
The Town of Niverville Election Office Hours will not be available Wednesday, July 1st, 2026, as the Niverville Administration Office will be closed due to Canada Day.

- April 1st, 2026: First day for changes to the Voters List
- May 1st, 2026: Campaign and Candidate Registration Period for Head of Council begins.
- June 30th, 2026: Campaign and Candidate Registration Period for Councillor position begins.
- July 30th, 2026: First day to apply in writing (mail or email) to vote by sealed envelope.
- September 16th to 22nd, 2026: Nomination Period for Head of Council and Councillor positions.
- September 22nd, 2026: Last day for changes to the Voters List.
- October 1st, 2026: First day to apply in-person to vote by sealed envelope.
- October 28th, 2026: Election Day
In accordance with Section 36 of The Municipal Councils and School Board Elections Act, the Town of Niverville Voters List will be open for changes or revisions starting on Wednesday, April 1st, 2026, and will close on Tuesday, September 22nd, 2026.
- Any person who is eligible to vote in municipal elections in the Local Authority of the Town of Niverville can have their name added to the Voters List, or have any information about the voter in the Voters List corrected.
- Any person can request to have his or her name and address obscured from the Voters List.
A person whose name has been obscured will receive a Personal Security Certificate and identification number. That person may only vote by Sealed Envelope Ballot and cannot vote in person at the regular or advance voting places. The earliest date to apply in writing (either mail or email) for a Sealed Envelope Ballot is Thursday, July 30th, 2026, with the last date being Sunday, October 25th, 2026.Â
To be eligible to vote in a municipal election in the Town of Niverville, a person must be:
- A Canadian citizen;
- At least 18 years of age on election day; and
- A resident or registered owner of land in the Town of Niverville for at least six months on Election Day.
To implement the above, a written request including name and address, along with proof of identity, must be submitted to the Senior Election Official during regular Election Office hours. You can find the SEO’s contact information above.
On Election Day, our community will elect a Mayor and four Councillors to a four-year term starting at noon on Thursday, October 29th, 2026. This new Council will then appoint one of their members to the position of Deputy Mayor at the first regular Council meeting of the new term. The Deputy Mayor is not elected directly.
Prospective municipal election candidates must register with the Senior Election Official (SEO) during the registration period before they may begin to accept contributions, incur expenses, fundraise or borrow money for their campaign.
The SEO will be receiving candidate registrations:
- For head of council: Between May 1, 2026 and September 22, 2026
- For councillor: Between June 30, 2026 and September 22, 2026
To be eligible to be a candidate in a municipal election in the Town of Niverville, a person must be:
- A Canadian citizen;
- At least 18 years of age on election day;
- A resident or registered owner of land in the Town of Niverville for at least six months on Election Day; and,
- Not be subject to disqualification under The Municipal Act or any other Act.
Registrations will be received at the Town of Niverville Administration Office during regular Election Office Hours, at 329 Bronstone Drive, Niverville, MB.
A person is disqualified under The Municipal Act if they are a judge, justice of the peace, or a member of the Manitoba Legislature or the Senate or House of Commons of Canada.
Please be aware that due to new provincial regulations, all candidates will be required to disclose any offences that they have pleaded guilty to, or have been found guilty of, under:
- The Criminal Code (Canada)
- The Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (Canada)
- The Income Tax Act (Canada)
- The Income Tax Act (Manitoba)
Candidates do not have to declare any offences under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Canada), The Young Offenders Act (Canada), or an offence for which they were granted a pardon under the Criminal Code.
