Council is excited to release the August 2025 edition of Last Month at Council! Some highlights include:

  • Updates to the Traffic and Parking Bylaw, such as the implementation of a 10-minute parking limit in front of Growing Minds Daycare on Main Street, from 7am to 9am and 4pm to 6pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Approval of a Library Donation Policy, to provide clarification on the donation of books and other materials to the “Take One, Leave One” Library.
  • Awarding of the Town’s 2025 Sewer Cleaning contract, after following the due tendering process.

LMAC is designed to give residents and ratepayers of the Town of Niverville a quick look at what Council passed and approved over the last month, with helpful descriptions of terms that may not be common knowledge.

August 19th, 2025 Council Meeting

  • Council held a public hearing for, and approved, a subdivision application to create a new lot intended for the future construction of a school and open a public road to provide access to the property from Krahn Road, and to rezone this new lot from Agricultural Limited to Educational and Institutional.
    • This was approved with the conditions that the applicant enter into a Development Agreement with the Town regarding the construction of municipal infrastructure and that they enter into a separate Development Agreement for the development of the land.
  • Council held a public hearing for, and approved, a subdivision application to create 64 lots, open a public reserve, close a portion of a public road, and open new public roads north of Centre Street, south of Ridgemont Drive, and behind lots that back onto Mulberry Avenue and Krahn Road.
    • This was approved with the condition that the applicant enter into a Development Agreement with the Town.
  • Council held a public hearing for, and approved, Variance V20-25, which allows for a reduced side yard from 20 feet to 0 feet to accommodate the existing main building at 746 Schultz Avenue in the Business Park.
    • This was approved on the condition that the property owner undertakes, in good faith, to resolve any and all drainage-related issues in coordination with the owner of the adjoining property to the south.
  • Council approved some needed updates to the Traffic and Parking Bylaw No. 801-18, Schedule A.
    • Some important highlights from these updates:
      • A no parking area added to the entire length of the south side of the Drovers Run, and from Station Road to Mulberry Avenue on the north side. Additionally, a 1-hour parking limit has been added to the north side of Drovers Run from Mulberry Avenue to Krahn Road.
      • A 10-minute parking limit has been added on Main Street in front of the Growing Minds Daycare. It will be in effect from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
      • A no parking area has been added to the north side of Cambridge Way between 3 Cambridge Way and the west intersection.
      • Arena Road, Centre Street, and Mulberry Avenue have been added to the Designated Snow Route.

  • Council approved a total of $970,375.51 in cheques and electronic fund transfers (EFT) for payment.
  • Council approved the July 2025 Financial Statement as presented.
  • Council gave 2nd and 3rd reading to, and passed, Bylaw No. 879-25, which rezoned from Agricultural Limited to Educational and Institutional the previously mentioned lot that was created for the future construction of a school.
  • Council gave 2nd and 3rd reading to, and passed, Staff Renumeration Bylaw No. 880-25, subject to a minor amendment to a position title on Schedule “A”.
  • Council approved Library Donation Policy R1-25, which provides clarification on the donation of books and other materials to the “Take One, Leave One” Library.
    • Preferred donations include best sellers, paperback and hardcover books in good condition, local history, and materials covering specific subject areas as determined by library staff.

  • Following the Town’s due tendering process, the Town’s 2025 Sewer Cleaning contract has been awarded.
    • The contract was awarded to 3231275 Manitoba Ltd. O/A Ray Bateman Enterprises, who submitted the lowest bid overall.
