Niverville, MB – This past year, the Niverville Town Council had the opportunity to talk with many residents, where they heard concerns about affordability, access to health, and access to daycare. Council took these concerns to its annual Planning Session, which happened November 21st and 22nd, and spent over 20 hours discussing priorities for 2026 and beyond.
Listening to residents, Council focused its outcomes from the 2026 Planning Session on affordability, healthcare, and daycare:
- Council decided on a lower municipal tax increase of 2.5%, which is below the 2025 inflation rate.
- Council would like to see micro suites be included in multi-family buildings to help with housing affordability. To assist builders with the cost of these spaces, Council will lower the parking stall requirements of these micro suites from two to one.
- Council will set aside money in 2026 to help provide access to recreation programming to families with children who may be struggling to do so.
- Council will begin looking for further clinic space in 2026 to provide more space for both regular and same-day appointments, as Open Health Niverville’s current space has filled up and doctors continue to express interest in our community. Please keep an eye out for further announcements in the coming weeks.
- Council has created a comprehensive, multi-point daycare strategy to lower the waitlist numbers in our community. The full strategy will be announced in the coming weeks.
With these exciting plans, Council hopes to provide our community with greater options for affordability, healthcare access, and daycare access in 2026 and beyond.
