Town Council

Government in Niverville consists of a 5 member council with the head of council being the Mayor. Elections are held in accordance with the Province of Manitoba Municipal act, every 4 years or as required by by-election to fill vacancies. The current term began in October 2014 and will end with elections in October 2018.

Members of the public are encouraged to consider running for council. An open mind and a community passion are the only prerequisites other than being a citizen of at least 6 months and in good standing. Nomination packages and information are available from the Town Office. More information on municipal elections is available by talking to a member of council, town staff or via the Province of Manitoba.

Town Council meets the first and third Tuesday of every month for regular council meetings. These are open to the public and the first meeting of the month begins at 9:00am and the second meeting of the month begins at 7:00pm at the Niverville Heritage Centre in the West Ballroom. Additional special meetings of council are held as required along with various committee and consultation meetings as may be required. Members of the public wishing to make presentation at council should contact the Administration Office at least 3 working days prior to council to ensure a spot on the agenda.
